Who is Nemesis Lacrosse Club?

The Nemesis Lacrosse Club is a community run organization made up of volunteers who have a passion for lacrosse and are committed to growing field lacrosse in the National Capital Region. Serving Ottawa, Kemptville, Gatineau and the Seaway, Nemesis strives to provide outstanding coaching to improve field lacrosse skills and game-play knowledge for all who join. Many of our Alumni have gone on to play Varsity Lacrosse at University and Colleges in Canada and the US, and as a travel club, the Nemesis can help those new players who strive for these goals, while building a strong foundation and respect for the sport.

What programs does Nemesis offer?

The Nemesis Lacrosse Club offers Women’s field lacrosse, Club field lacrosse, pre-season training camps and travel teams. Check out our programs page for more details.

What’s the difference between Club Field Lacrosse and Women’s Field Lacrosse?

Both Club LAX and Women’s LAX are fast, intense games that rely on physical stamina and exceptional hand-eye coordination, however there are some differences in style of play and the type of gear you’ll need. Club LAX allows checking, thus helmets, mouth guards, shoulder and elbow pads, and gloves are all standard in Club LAX, whereas in Women’s LAX, checking is not allowed therefore most female players wear goggles and mouth guards, while helmets and protective padding are reserved for goalies. The sticks used in each discipline are also different and Club LAX has 10 players on the field, whereas Women’s LAX has 12 players. There are also differences in field size, set-up and gameplay.

What are the fees?

Fees associated with each program can be found on the respective program page.

Does Nemesis Lacrosse Club offer a house-league program?

As Nemesis Lacrosse Club is a travel club, we do not offer a house-league program.

What if I have never played before, can I still play for Nemesis?

Absolutely! Nemesis Lacrosse Club promotes a welcoming environment and a love of the sport. There is a place for everyone on one of our travel teams. If you are a new player, the pre-season training camp is a great opportunity to come and see what we are all about.

Where can I buy equipment?

There are many sporting retailers that sell LAX gear, and you may be able to find ‘new to you’ gear through online classified sites as well, but feel free to e-mail us at if you have any specific questions regarding equipment and we would be happy to direct you to the right place.

How do I register with Nemesis?

Information regarding how to register and the associated online forms can be found on our registration page. We hope you will join us and be #FierceOnTheField!

Will Nemesis still travel given COVID-19 restrictions?

The Nemesis Lacrosse Club is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all, and continues to closely monitor Public Health Guidelines regarding our ‘return to play’. In past seasons, Nemesis have played in Ottawa, Montreal, and throughout Southern Ontario, as well as travel to US tournaments usually in October. The travel schedule for the 2021 season will be determined after the August pre-season training camp, and will be dependent on Public Health Guidelines to ensure the safety of our Nemesis families.
